Whitening:

In order to whiten your smile, your teeth must be clean and decay-free. Prior to any whitening procedure you must have had a recent cleaning with your dental hygienist with any needed x-rays and a complete oral examination by a doctor.

With the recent whitening boom, the Miller Lung Dental Group currently offers two bleaching treatment options. Both options provide excellent results, but are quite different in the way the bleaching is done. The Miller Lung Dental Group currently offers the following types of whitening procedures.

Whitening

Implants

Veneers

Tooth Colored Fillings

Root Canal Therapy

TMJ/TMD

Full Mouth Reconstruction

Crowns and Bridges

Dentures

Rembrandt One-Hour Chairside Whitening

This whitening procedure requires only one visit to obtain an average of 7-8 shades of improvement on your smile. The appointment will take approximately two hours, one hour of preparation and one hour of actual bleaching time. This procedure is sometimes referred to as “laser whitening”, although it doesn’t use a laser per se. It uses a special plasma arc light source intended for chairside bleaching. The whitening gel is painted onto the teeth after the proper isolation procedure and is activated using the plasma arc curing light. The result…a whiter smile in just one visit.

Custom-made Tray Whitening

This type of whitening requires two appointments. The first appointment is to take impressions of your upper and lower teeth. With these impressions, we will make custom-fit trays for your teeth. Once the trays are completed, you will have to come in for a second appointment to learn how to use the trays and bleaching gels at home. Depending on your preference you can wear the trays for half an hour twice a day or you can wear them overnight while you sleep. Both systems have the same excellent results. The trays also allow for future “touch-ups” to brighten your smile.

Please call and speak to one of our whitening specialists for more information regarding our whitening procedures.

Implants:

Dental implants are the most contemporary way to replace missing teeth. A titanium screw is placed into the jawbone by an appropriate surgeon. After the implant is placed it will have to heal for four to six months. After the implant has integrated, our doctors would complete the restorative phase of the dental implant process. The implant can be used to support a single crown or several implants can be used to support a denture or a bridge. We have found dental implants to be a very rewarding and exciting part of our practice and can offer patients new options that were previously unavailable.

Dental implants are not a possibility for all patients. In order to determine whether or not you would be a good candidate for implants, call and schedule a consultation appointment with one of our doctors.

Veneers and All Ceramic Crowns

Veneers and all ceramic crowns are a great way to improve aesthetics on front teeth. They have no metal in them, so they will look as natural as possible. They can be used to close spaces, reshape and resize teeth. After a consultation appointment, Dr. Miller or Dr. Lung can let you know if veneers or all ceramic crowns are right for you!

Tooth-colored Fillings:

Tooth colored fillings are a beautiful way to restore teeth without using the traditional silver fillings. With this type of restoration, a white composite filling material is bonded into the tooth. More and more people are choosing tooth colored fillings instead of silver fillings on back teeth. These fillings are more costly, but well worth it.

Root Canal Therapy

A root canal is necessary when decay has gotten into the nerve of the tooth and caused an infection, or when the nerve is chronically inflamed. The procedure requires the removal of the nerve tissue from the root of the tooth. After the nerve tissue is removed the tooth will no longer have the pulp (nerve) tissue in it. After a tooth has been root canal’d it usually needs a post and a crown to support and stabilize the tooth.

TMJ/TMD

TMJ stands for temporal mandibular Joint. It is the joint that connects the lower jaw to the upper jaw. Some people have pain in the joint and may hear a clicking or popping sound if they open their mouth too wide. This is known as TMD – Temporal Mandibular Dysfunction. This problem can sometimes be alleviated by wearing a nightguard while you sleep.

Full Mouth Reconstruction

Patients who have many fillings, a lot of decay, or are just not happy with the overall appearance of their smile, may be candidates for a full mouth reconstruction. Depending on the patient, this may include the utilization of the following:

  • Crowns

  • Bridges

  • Implants

  • Removable partial dentures

Before a full mouth reconstruction can be planned, a consultation appointment with a full mouth series of x-rays, impressions of your teeth and intraoral photographs would be necessary.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown , also known as a cap, usually requires two appointments, and is a way to restore a single tooth by creating proper support and aesthetics. If a tooth has a very large filling in it, or is cracked, it may need to be crowned. A crown can be porcelain fused to a metal or a gold substructure, all ceramic or all gold. Both the porcelain fused to metal/gold crowns and all ceramic crowns look exactly like natural teeth, no one will be able to tell the difference.

A bridge is used to replace missing teeth by crowning the teeth on either side of the space, and attaching a false tooth to the crowns to cover the space.

Dentures and Partial Dentures:

If you already have dentures and need a new set, Dr. Miller and Dr. Lung can do that for you. If you have lost several of your teeth you may need a partial denture – a removable appliance that clasps onto your remaining teeth.

Depending on your specific dental needs and personal wants, we can customize the best treatment for you. We have been able to greatly improve complete dentures and often eliminate the need for partial dentures by utilizing new techniques and technologies. Call us for a consultation and see how we can help you have the smile you have dreamed of.
